If you're a solo developer who wants maximum power and doesn't mind switching editors, Cursor or Windsurf are the most complete AI-native environments available. If you're embedded in an enterprise with strict security requirements and a preference for your own models, Tabnine or Cody are worth a serious look. If you live in the terminal and trust Anthropic's Claude above all else, Claude Code is a genuinely different product category. And if you want broad model access, wide IDE coverage, and the backing of Microsoft's infrastructure, GitHub Copilot remains the safe, capable default.
